DESCRIPTION:Run head-on into discovery & treat your brain this summer with YourMDL’s Loot Box.  Each month\, unearth a blind-bag of goodies & stories to inspire\, entertain\, & challenge you.  Keep the loot inside & return the library book & box when you are finished. You must return the box in order to receive the next month’s.  \nRegistration is required & opens on the 1st of each month.  Sign up while supplies last! Teens who do not have a library card are welcome to participate; a non-library book will be provided.  \nOur teen programs are for those entering grades 6-12 in the coming school year.  Please verify the participant’s age when registering.  Our programs are free (& very popular)! We often have a waiting list; if you register but can no longer attend\, please let us know!  Please note: Watch your email for a response\, noting confirmation or waitlist status\, within 24-48 hours. DESCRIPTION:Movement is literacy when you dance & exercise your brain.  During a full half-hour of music & movement\, we’ll get to use our little muscles & our big muscles\, which helps our brains grow.  Start with a mindful breath\, make some friends\, & have fun.   \nThis program is planned with ages 2-6 in mind\, but all ages are welcome to attend. Please remember to wear comfortable shoes.  Meet at the Capitol Hill School at 606 Washington St\, Marshall\, MI. In case of weather or construction\, please meet at the library.  No registration required.

SUMMARY:Gems\, Crystals\, Fossils: Oh My!
DESCRIPTION:Prepare to go back in time to the age of dinosaurs\, volcanoes\, & the fossils left behind. What do we mean when we say crystals\, stones\, minerals\, & gems?  Are they different? Let’s learn their origin stories & mineral composition as we visit with staff from Hodges Jewelers.  Then\, we’ll walk over for a tour of the jewelry shop…including a behind-the-scenes look at the repair & creation stations there.  From there\, we’ll walk to Quothe the Raven\, where we will unearth the stories of crystals: their properties\, meanings\, & history of how they have been used by people over time.  Pick up can be at the library or at 225 W Michigan Ave\, Marshall\, MI. \nRegistration required & opens the Monday prior. \nOur teen programs are for those entering grades 6-12 in the coming school year.
