MeL
Your gateway to free research tools, from academic databases to job‑search resources, and seamless borrowing from libraries throughout Michigan.
What is MeL?
The Michigan eLibrary (MeL) is a free statewide service provided by the Library of Michigan. It gives every Michigan resident access to a vast collection of online databases, research tools, and digital resources at no cost.
MeL includes two major components:
- MeLCat — A statewide shared catalog that lets you search and borrow materials from libraries across all 83 Michigan counties, delivered to your local library for free.
- MeL eResources — Over 70 subscription databases covering everything from academic journals and newspapers to career tools and genealogy records.
